Mercotac Electric Slip ring

A slip ring is an electrical connector designed to carry current or signals between a stationary wire and a rotating device. Typically, it is comprised of a stationary graphite or metal contact (brush) which rubs on the outside diameter of a rotating metal ring. As the metal ring turns, the electrical current or signal is conducted through the stationary brush to the metal ring making the connection. Additional ring/brush assemblies are stacked along the rotating axis if more than one electrical circuit is needed. This simple design has been used for decades as a rudimentary method of passing current into a rotating device. Some other names used for slipring are collector ring, rotary electrical contact and “electrical slip ring”. Some people also use the term commutator, however commutators are somewhat different and are specialized for use on DC motors and generators.

Mercotac® Rotary Electrical One Connectors

10 Amp (Model 110)
Mounts at the end of a rotating axis. Mount by the press fit receptacle accessory. Wire attaches using the accessory receptacle or cap. This model is designed to mount at the bottom of a vertical rotating shaft.

10 Amp (Model 105)
Mounts at the end of a rotating axis. Mount by the press fit receptacle accessory. Wires attach using the accessory receptacle and cap. Mercotac models 110-T & 105 are ideal for shaft grounding applications, including HVAC and VFD motor shaft grounding, thus avoiding very costly bearing damage.

Mercotac® Rotary Electrical Two Connectors

Model 205
High-speed model available (205-H) Low-torque/low-temp. models available (205-L) Available with stainless steel ball bearing (205-SS) Mercotac model 205 is ideal for two-wire applications, such as thermocouples, strain gages, eddy current test devices, and wind turbine blade sensors, due to its compact size, quality signal connection, low torque and low cost. Model 205 replaces the old model 590 for Leslie speakers and Hammond organs.

Model 215-2K
Mercotac model 215-2K series is ideal for high-voltage, two-wire applications such as ultrasonic welding.

Mercotac® Rotary Electrical Three Connectors

Model 305
Model 305 is typically mounted by the knurled metal receptacle, which is press-fit into the rotating member of the machine. When mounting horizontally, mount the Mercotac so the body of the connector rotates.

Model 331
Model 331 is typically mounted by either the black body or the white plastic bushing on either end using a set screw. When mounting horizontally, mount the Mercotac so the body of the connector rotates.
